WAYNE BOYCE, BOXING CHAMPION

THE WAYNE BOYCE BOXING STORY:  by Brian Zelley

Introduction
As a former three-time opponent of Wayne Boyce
in 1967 and 1968, it is easy to remember Wayne's
excellence in the ring.  But, beyond active competition,
WAYNE BOYCE also was a boxing coach at
the ASTORIA BOXING CLUB in Vancouver, BC.
In 1967 Wayne was the 1967 Featherweight Champion
of Canada and earned a spot on the Canadian
1967 Pan Am Games boxing team.

A FAMILY AFFAIR - ASTORIA and the BOYCE FAMILY
The full story of Wayne is to go back and see that boxing
was a family affair.  Following involvement with the
Hastings Community Centre boxing club and the
Pat O'Reilly family, Walter Boyce and sons  Tommy and
Wayne Boyce, along with Johnny Creanza formed
the Astoria Boxing Club in 1966 in the basement of the Astoria Hotel.

In The RING story, there was a photo of Johnny Summerhays winning

In thehistory of Canadian boxing there are many more excellent
