Skipping is an Important activity that can be used in a variety of ways.
An important issue is it should be done with variety for several 3-minute round.
A good idea in the last 30 or 10 seconds is to pick-up the speed.
One can skip in one spot or skip moving forward and for the those that want to be challenged they can try skipping while moving backwards.

Cliff McNabb and Nanaimo boxing
CLIFF MCNABB - A NANAIMO ICON - By Brian Zelley
As we look through the sports history of Nanaimo, BC, Canada,
one name that is recognized is CLIFF MCNABB. I remember him for his
involvement in amateur boxing since the Sixties.
Cliff is unlikely to be selected for any inductee slot in the BC Amateur Boxing Hall of Fame,
but in Nanaimo his name will be remembered and reported on for
many decades as there is now a "CLIFF MCNABB ARENA" at the old Beban Park location in North Nanaimo.
As we look through the sports history of Nanaimo, BC, Canada,

two of us Zelley and fellow co-founder of the Nanaimo Boxing Club DANNY WRIGHT visited Ali in his place at the Georgie Hotel. Ali was training for his but with George Chuvalo. Also, we met Houston welterweight MANUEL (Manny) GONZALEZ who had previously a non-title win over EMILE GRIFFITH.

SOBRAL in the HERE and NOW
Manny Sobral is still involved in boxing on the Professional level
and to some degree on the amateur level. One of his main areas
of interest has been promoting fights which stems back to when
he helped organize and promote one of the BC Golden Gloves
tournaments a number of years back.
In the North Burnaby Boxing Club which used to be a key location
of the Boxing BC headquarters and location for Olympic team
training for the 1984 and 1988 Canadian teams.
Also, he was involved with boxer JUNIOR MOAR and was involved
with arranging the promotions of a couple of the title fights in
Richmond, BC.
In the near future, there will be another pro boxing card with
the headliner being ADAM "A-bomb" TRUPISH at River Rock.
And, a special guest being former world champ: Eddie Mustafa Muhammad
aka Edward Gregory, the multi-term golden gloves champion.

AMATEUR BOXING RECEIVES ANOTHER LOW BLOW: By Brian Zelley
In the twisted world of Canadian sports politics amateur boxing is once again taking it on the chin.
The finger pointing has already pointing at BOXING QUEBEC and the alleged failure to submit
numbers of registered boxers. Of course, anyone should know that Quebec is likely the top Province
for Amateur Boxing so the fact they did not get the numbers filed on time, as reported, should not
sabotage the whole sport of boxing in Canada.
Now those good folks at the Canada Games maybe standing on rules, but one needs to
take a famous second look.

Long before Pascal was an amateur or professional, he had a story part of which is his arrival in Canada
as a pre-teen, and when he reached his teens like many others he turned to amateur boxing and began training with SYLVAIN GAGNON. Back then, who could have guessed what his boxing journey
would reveal. Over time, he would become a Canadian amateur boxing champion and be one of the members of Team Canada Boxing to participate in the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England.
THE 2002 MANCHESTER COMMONWEALTH GAMES
JEAN PASCAL was one of a number of Canadian amateur boxers that did well.
Others were Sebastien Gauthier, Andrew Kooner, Benoit Gaudet,
Michael Walchuk, Jason Douglas, and David Cadieux.
Other Canadian Champions 2001 and 2002 included B. Latham,
A. Decaire, R. Romero, R Savage and Donnie Orr.
THE PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY
Based on the BoxRec record book, some of early pro bouts from 2005 were in Montreal.
One of the bouts with MARTIN DESJARDINS was for the Canadian Super Middleweight
Title. His first loss came at the hands of CARL FROCH in England.

THE BOB PEGUES STORY: By Brian Zelley
With two boxers by the names of KENNY LALLY and JAG SEEHRA,
boxing coach BOB PEGUES has shined as a coach for several years.
As we look through the passages of time we drift back to 1968 in
Nanaimo. The Newcastle Boxing Club founded by GEORGE NEPPER
was in the final season before it was closed. A new club
would not be formed until 1971, but in the summer of 1969,
a young Bob Pegues expressed an interest for a new club,
but due to a variety of circumstances a new club was not formed until 1971.
Bob would become one of the early members of the Nanaimo Boxing Club.

As the Seventies faded, many of those that were involved in amateur
boxing during the Sixties and Seventies would also fade away and
be forgotten But, as time shed new light, the Nanaimo boxer
BOB PEGUES would rise again as a boxing coach and travel down
the road to excellencein Prince George and beyond British Columbia
to be a team coach in National or International competition. Once
again boxer KENNY LALLY has earned a National title and will be
thrust into Internationl competition with one eye, heart and soul
focused on a spot on the Canadian Olympic Boxing Team for a date
with destiny in the 2012 LONDON OLYMPIC GAMES BOXING .
Another important part of the Pegues story is the story of
JAG SEEHRA and how he overcame difficulties with his vision
to rise to a new high level of performance in 2010. Part of Jag's
new level of attitude and achievement was displayed on
Vancouver Island in April at the 2010 BC GOLDEN GLOVES
hosted by the CAPITAL CITY BOXING CLUB. For the recent
National tournament, there could be no expectations, but Jag
excelled and punched his way into the finals to win Silver and
a fresh new outlook and potential along the winding boxing highway.
THE NEXT ROUND - For Bob, Kenny and Jag - there should be
many next rounds, but there can be no predictions only hope, wishes,
dreams, attitude, action, and achievements with the best possible
ring skills and strategy. For the rest of us, it is nice to be able to
follow the journey of each of them.

"The Windsor Star" had s recent story about Ontario boxers
El Mais and Mary Spenser but got it wrong concerning the number of titles that Mary
has won, the fact is it was Qubec boxer ARIANE FORTIN that was the 2010 Champion.
It is true that Mary won in december to be the 2011 Champion, but we cannot dimimish
the achievement of ARIANE FORTIN
